Singapore (Knowles Training Institute)– Participants will be more engaged and behave better when trainers facilitate with using acting methods such as physical and vocal techniques, and the using surprise, suspense and gestures according to Mr.Sancy Suraj, Managing Director of Knowles Training Institute.

Trainers who employ acting technique have a higher chance of engaging their training participants.

Both trainers and actors must fundamentally capture and hold the intended viewer’s attention. We have started hiring ex-actors and actresses that have completed their ACTA (Advance Certification in Training & Assessment), train them on a particular topic and make them deliver to a classroom full of corporate trainers.

Even with 2-3 years in the training industry, most of them outperform subject matter experts that has been in the industry for over 30 years, Said Mr. Sancy Suraj.

These actors and actress employed by Pinnacle Minds do not delivery subjects requiring heavy skills and knowledge but rather soft skills such as time management and note writing. Now we send some of our full time facilitators for acting classes to learn strategies to engage and motivate learners in class.

The next time you are conducting a training session or teaching a class, try the following acting methods:

This techniques was developed in the early 20th century; it was then advanced by Mr. Lee Strasberg, where it became known as “method acting.” This technique focuses on the actor analysing the emotions as well as motivation of the character. The actor uses emotions from their own personal experiences to help them get on a deeper psychological level.

Meisner’s technique takes the actor out of their head and focuses instead on spontaneity and developing the actors’ instincts during training. The Meisner technique involves repetition exercises that are later used at a more advanced level, in order for the actress to achieve the spontaneity found in real life behaviors.
